Very rare and unusual in the oeuvre of Hugo Elmqvist is this bronze vase. The winged stylized women are forming the handles. These symbolist sezessionist lady's are very rare in the work of Elmqvist.
A proposito di opere artista
Carl Hugo Magnus Elmqvist è nato il 13 ottobre 1862 nella città svedese di Karlshamn. Era uno scultore certificato e noto. Dapprima concentrò i suoi studi su arti e mestieri presso la Royal Art Academy di Stoccolma, dal 1888 fino al 1892. Successivamente, continuò i suoi studi a Parigi e in Italia, dove rimase per un periodo di tempo. Le opere più famose della sua mano sono i vasi in bronzo patinato, che Elmqvist spesso decorava con piante e animali. Elmqvist era sposato con la pittrice Erna Wichmann ed era padre di Orvar, Helga e Idina Elmqvist. Lo scultore inventò anche un metodo di fusione nel suo laboratorio di Stoccolma, che in seguito prese il suo nome ancor prima che morisse il 24 febbraio 1930.
