Gillis Rombouts was a Dutch Golden Age landscape painter and draftsman , born in Haarlem, 1630. He produced many landscapes throughoout his life, frequently incorporating trees and forests in different seasons, sometimes alongside architectural elements.
His landscapes can be compared to those of Jacob van Ruisdael and Meindert Hobbema.
Rombouts passed away in 1672, leaving his son Salomon to follow in his footsteps.
