About the artist

Van Hoek works as a painter, watercolorist, ceramist and wood carver. It is characteristic that he often makes sculptural frames around his paintings; these are self-cut and polychrome. He makes landscapes, figure representations, portraits, self-portraits, still lifes, flower still lifes and non-figurative work. His ceramic work mainly revolves around the landscape theme; he made several variations of a miniature mountain with waterfall.
