About the artist

Lia Koster (1958) studied at the Academy of Visual Arts in Utrecht. After her studies, she mainly focused on glass and metal. This specialization quickly attracted the attention of prominent clients such as the Holland-America line, who asked Lia to design a glass ceiling for the 1st class dining room.

Lia Koster has developed her own style in blown and molten glass objects, which is mainly recognizable by sparkling transparent colours. For Lia, glass is ideally suited to depict the tension between the fragility and strength of life.

The source of inspiration for Lia Koster is the origin of the different life forms. The seed forms, primitive growth forms as well as forms on a microscopic level are the result.
