  • About the artwork
A graduate of Metal Arts at the Escola d’Art Superior de Disseny in Vic, Catalonia, Rosendo Porro Cuesta has been honing his skills ever since.
Working in various workshops and teaching, sharing his knowledge of welding and smithery, he came to know and work alongside respected sculptor, Josep Plandiura. Their collaboration has resulted in the construction and installation of numerous large-scale sculptures.

L’Enclusa is located in Barcelona. A project set up by Rosendo Porro Cuesta in 2012, bringing together interior decorators, designers and artists to create metal pieces. Currently, from his studio in Les Franqueses del Vallès, the artist is immersed in his own artistic world where sculptures become optical illusions. Playing with assumptions and lines, invading space, he makes every day objects exceptional, triggering the imagination to see beyond the known.

The great dilemma of the artist is that, by expressing an idea, by realising it, he is already distorting it. The deepest emotions are intangible, ethereal, abstract. Rosendo Porro Cuesta manages to give form to the anti-form, to express the inexpressible, the invisible. In an exercise of necessary humility, but with an extraordinary aesthetic power, he does not place us in front of an idea but in front of its shadow. Its essence, its heart, its trace. An empty piano, traced by its mere silhouette, is a perfect way of defining music: without the piano, music does not exist; and yet the important thing about music has never been the piano.
  • About the artist

Rosendo Porro Cuesta (born 1981, Granollers, Spain) is a contemporary Spanish artist known for his powerful, intuitive painting style that emphasizes energy, color, and movement. From his studio in Catalonia, he develops a visual language that balances between figuration and abstraction, where spontaneous brushstrokes and layered paint layers combine to create an intense visual rhythm.

Porro Cuesta grew up in Granollers, near Barcelona, a region with a strong artistic tradition where both Mediterranean light and urban culture play a significant role. This environment remains a constant source of inspiration in his work. His paintings are characterized by an expressive use of color, often composed of contrasting tones that evoke tension and dynamism.

In his work, Porro Cuesta explores themes such as human emotion, memory, and the interplay between inner experience and external reality. Figures, landscapes, or symbolic forms frequently appear in a semi-abstract context, inviting the viewer to develop their own interpretations.

His working method is intuitive and physical: paint is not only applied but also splattered, scraped, and rebuilt. This creates works with a distinct material quality and a powerful energy. The process of painting—searching, repainting, and redefining—is an essential part of the final image.

Rosendo Porro Cuesta's works are held in private collections in various European countries and are valued for their direct emotional power and vibrant Mediterranean character.
