  • About the artist

Liechennay was exposed to the creative process from an early age through his mother, a designer of gold jewelry in Indonesia. Immersed in craftsmanship and material sensitivity, he initially pursued a successful career in interior design in his home country before realizing that sculpture would become the next phase of his artistic journey.

After several years dedicated to refining his technique, Liechennay began creating increasingly complex works, eventually realizing his ambition to produce large-scale and monumental sculptures. This evolution marked a decisive turning point in his practice, allowing him to fully explore form, structure, and material on an architectural scale.

His expanding artistic horizon led to international projects and exhibitions, with his practice now spanning between the Netherlands and Indonesia. Liechennay has presented his work at major international art fairs worldwide and is currently engaged in multiple high-profile commissions, including a large-scale tree sculpture for a luxury hotel in Indonesia and a bespoke work for a VIP private collector. In parallel, he is preparing a series of solo exhibitions in Australia and the United States, regions where his work has been shown extensively in recent years.

Inspired by nature and life itself—the organic forms and rhythms that surround him—Liechennay creates highly aesthetic sculptures that embody balance, beauty, and a sense of tranquility and timelessness. His work establishes a quiet dialogue with nature. Central to his practice is the transformation of cold, rigid steel into fluid, organic forms. Often combining stainless steel with wood and copper, each sculpture is a unique, hand-welded piece. Thousands of individual steel elements are bent, shaped, and joined one by one, resulting in works of remarkable intricacy and harmony.

Over the years, Liechennay has gained widespread international recognition. His sculptures are held in significant public and private collections across the globe, affirming his position as a distinctive voice in contemporary sculpture.
