  • About the artwork
A masterpiece of American silver craftsmanship.

This monumental oval centerpiece, created between 1880 and 1890 by the prestigious Whiting Mfg. Co. of New York, captures the full drama of Rococo Revival design. Its sculptural details include two beautifully modelled female figures at each end, flowing shell and scroll motifs, and a remarkable marine-inspired base with sea creatures.

Weighing an extraordinary 25 kilograms, this museum-quality piece is far more than its silver value, it is a rare testament to the peak of 19th-century American silversmithing.

Whiting Mfg. Co (Whiting Manufacturing Company) was a prestigious American silver manufacturer based in New York, active from 1866-1926. A 25-kilogram silver centerpiece from this maker would be an extremely substantial and valuable piece.
