Petrus Paulus Schiedges Jr. (1860-1922) was a Dutch painter and watercolourist, born in The Hague. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague and is associated with the Hague School.
Schiedges Jr. specialised in capturing the Dutch landscape, with a preference for autumn landscapes and heathland scenes with sheep. His work shows a strong influence of the Hague School, characterised by a realistic approach and subtle use of colour. In addition to landscapes, he also painted numerous waterscapes, in which he managed to capture the atmosphere and light of the Dutch countryside in a striking way.
His works have been offered at auction several times, which testifies to a continuing interest in his contribution to Dutch painting.
Schiedges Jr. died in 1922, but his paintings remain valued for their serene representation of the Dutch landscape and their contribution to the tradition of the Hague School.
