    Original watercolour drawing of the 17th century manorhouse Groenevecht on the river Vecht.
    Signed and dated lower left.

    The landscapepainter, etcher and lithorapher P.J. Lutgers (1808-1874) lived most of his life in Loenen aan de Vecht. Over a period of thirty years he made many drawings of the scenery of the river Vecht.
    In 1836 he published lithographs of his drawings in a book titled 'Gezichten aan de rivier de Vecht' (Views of the river Vecht). The original print of this book is also for sale at Kunsthandel Pygmalion. This watercolour is a preliminary study of the lithograph of this manorhouse in the book.

    Nel 1808 Lutgers nacque ad Amsterdam. Figlio di Joannes Lutgens ed Elizabeth Cornelia van Kampen. Dipinse paesaggi, città, fiumi e marine, ma anche ritratti. È noto per la sua serie di dipinti di Utrecht e dintorni; soprattutto vicino al fiume Vecht. Oltre a ciò ha realizzato disegni da diversi altri luoghi nei Paesi Bassi come Almelo, L'Aia, Haarlem, Leiden, Rijswijk, Utrecht e Velsen. Ha pubblicato le sue opere come litografie. Uno dei suoi allievi fu Nicolaas Bastert. Morì a Loenen aan de Vecht all'età di 65 anni. Era sposato con Maria Susanna Moen.
