Jean Pezous is a French painter.
He was born in Toulon, France in March of 1815. He studied with Senequier, who taught at the nautical school. He then went to Paris and studied under Orsel. He lived for a time at Bondy (Seine-St-Denis) and from 1846 to 1880 exhibited regularly at the Paris Salon. Pezous produced a large number of small paintings on a variety of different subjects, often introducing many figures. (Source: Benezit: Dictionary of Artists, vol. 10, p. 1299)
Work of Pezous is Pezous work is included in collections of the Hist. Carnavalet Museum in Paris, the Museum of Fine Arts in Toulon and the museum of Carpentras (Provence, France)
A proposito di opere artista
Jean Pezous nasce nel 1815 in Francia, in una famiglia modesta. Nel 1830 Pezous fece domanda all'Ecole de Dessin de Toulon e fu preso sotto l'ala protettrice di Bernard Sénéguier. Dopo la morte dei suoi genitori, Pezous si trasferì a Parigi dove fece domanda all'Ecole des Beaux-Arts. È stato spesso incaricato di decorare gli interni di luoghi pubblici come varie chiese a Parigi, ma anche caffè e hotel. L'artista morì nel 1885.
