About the artist
Charles H.D. Boland de Spa (Antwerp, 1850 – ?) was a Belgian painter, specialized in animals, landscapes, genre scenes and portraits,
He received his artistic training at the Academy of Antwerp, he took part in the “Prize of Rome” in 1878.
He was one of the co-founders on October 25, 1883 of the Antwerp association of visual artists Als ik Kan, of which Henry Van de Velde was also a member for a very short time.
