Henk Helmantel (b. 1945, Westeremden) is one of the most prominent realistic painters in the Netherlands. Educated at the Minerva Academy in Groningen, Helmantel developed an exceptional technical mastery, rooted in the tradition of 17th-century fine painters such as Vermeer and Saenredam.
