About the artist

Jan Boon was a Dutch artist who was born in Nieuwer-Amstel on 2 December 1882, he died in The Hague on 7 April 1975. Jan Boon was a pupil of Jacob Maris for a while and between 1898 and 1903 he studied at the Akademie voor Schone Kunsten in The Hague. After 1922 Jan Boon stayed in in Traunkirchen (Oostenrijk) for a couple years. From the 1930s onwards, he created watercolours of flowers and plants. His work is included in the collections of the Centraal Museum Utrecht and Kröller-Müller in Otterlo.
