Corstiaan Hendrikus de Swart (Arnhem, 1818 – Arnhem, 1897) was a Dutch painter, draughtsman and art educator, active in the 19th century, whose work was closely linked to the romantic realism of his time. Although he is no longer widely known today, in his active years he was known as a skilled artist and dedicated educator who played an important role in the cultural life of his native city.
De Swart specialized in portraits, genre scenes and landscapes, with a preference for classical compositions and a bright use of color.
