  • About the artwork
    [EN]
Johan van der Bilt travelled a lot, and on his travels and upon his return he painted the landscapes he encountered on the way. In this view on a house on Capri, he conveyed the bright sunshine of the South-Italian island. Cacti and several other plants grow outside and inside the garden wall, painted in his idiosyncratic dappled style.

The work is annotated on the lower right: 'J. van der Bilt 28 Capri'

    [NL]
