Prachtig winterwerk. De Wijnhaven te Rotterdam, wellicht was dit een geliefde plek voor kunstschilders want er bestaat meer werk vanuit deze hoek. U vindt ze ook op onze website.

  • About the artist

Jan van Bloppoel (15 June 1920 – 9 January 1972) was a Dutch painter, born in The Hague. As the son of painter Anthony Abraham van Bloppoel (1879–1971), he was immersed in the world of visual arts at an early age. He received his first training from his father and continued his studies at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague.

After his training, Van Bloppoel settled in Rijswijk, where he remained active as an artist until his death in 1972. His oeuvre includes landscapes, cityscapes, figure representations and portraits, executed in a style closely related to the Hague School. His work is characterised by a realistic approach and a refined use of colour, in which he managed to capture the atmosphere and light of the Dutch landscape.

Van Bloppoel's paintings have been offered at auction several times, which testifies to a continuing interest in his work.

His artistic legacy offers a valuable insight into the traditions of the Hague School and the continuity of this style in the 20th century.
