Tade Styka was a famous Polish painter. His father was an established painter in France and tutored his son from an early age. Tade was seen as a prodigy, resulting in winning prizes in Paris and receiving a distinction from the French president at age 11. Most noteworthy are his portraits of some of the greatest figures from the first half of the 20th century. He also painted animals and reigious scenes. According to some critics he was one of the greatest portrait artist that has ever lived. He won the Medal of Legion of Honor for his work, the highest award from the French Government. Tade Styka passed away in New York in 1954.
