Catharina Elisabeth (To, also known as Tootje) Vreede (Terschelling, January 4, 1916 - Amsterdam, August 24, 1995) was a Dutch painter.
To Vreede was a student of Conrad Kickert in Paris and of Stien Eelsingh in Zwolle and Amsterdam. She painted landscapes, still lifes and portraits, but especially children's portraits. She was a member of the Amsterdam Artists Association De Independents. She exhibited in 1944 with this association in the Stedelijk museum Amsterdam in 1950 in Museum Fodor.
She also exhibited in 1959 in the building Lijnbaansgracht 280 in Amsterdam, where Kunstzaal De Krulle was located at the time.
In 1996 she exhibited at Galerie Espace in Amsterdam.
She passed away in 1995 at the age of 79. She was buried in the Eastern Cemetery in Amsterdam.
Vreede was a descendant of the Vreede family and was born as the daughter of Chief Inspector of Taxes Carel Wilhelm Vreede (1887-1966) and Henriëtte Johanna Ladenius (1889-1964). She married painter and etcher Dan Bekking (1906-1973) in 1943, from whom she divorced in 1961.

Catharina Elisabeth (To, ook wel Tootje) Vreede (Terschelling, 4 januari 1916 − Amsterdam, 24 augustus 1995) was een Nederlands kunstschilder.
Vreede was een leerling van Conrad Kickert te Parijs en van Stien Eelsingh te Zwolle en te Amsterdam. Ze schilderde landschappen, stillevens en portretten maar vooral kinderportretten. Ze was lid van de Amsterdamse Kunstenaarsvereniging De Onafhankelijken. Zij exposeerde in 1944 met deze vereniging in het Stedelijk museum Amsterdam in 1950 in Museum Fodor.
Zij exposeerde verder in 1959 in het pand Lijnbaansgracht 280 te Amsterdam, waar destijds Kunstzaal De Krulle gevestigd was.
In 1996 exposeerde zij bij Galerie Espace in Amsterdam.
Ze overleed in 1995 op 79-jarige leeftijd. Zij werd begraven op de Oosterbegraafplaats in Amsterdam.[6]
Vreede was een telg uit het geslacht Vreede en werd geboren als dochter van hoofdinspecteur der belastingen Carel Wilhelm Vreede (1887-1966) en Henriëtte Johanna Ladenius (1889-1964). Zij trouwde in 1943 met kunstschilder en etser Dan Bekking (1906-1973), van wie zij in 1961 scheidde. - About the artist
Catharina Elisabeth ‘To’ Vreede was a Dutch painter. She was born in Terschelling, the Netherlands and worked in Paris for a long time. She was a pupil of Conrad Kickert. From 1939 on, she worked in Amsterdam. She was a member of artist association ‘De Onafhankelijken’ and specialized in children’s portraits.
